Meet Juan! Resident optometrist at Ollie Quinn's Cardiff boutique. We sat down with Juan to find out what makes him tick, and to chat the importance of eye-care.
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself!
I’ve been an optometrist for over ten years after completing my studies in Cardiff, the city I call home. Now I’m the resident optometrist in both the Cardiff and Bristol Ollie Quinn boutiques.
2. Why is eyecare important?
Our eyes and brain are miracles of human biology. We see 2.3 million colours with a resolution equivalent to 576 megapixels. Regular eye exams can help detect vision and health problems before you become aware of them.
3. What are the three most important things you want people to know about eyecare?
First, it’s recommended to visit your optometrist every 1-2 years. Second, it’s not a pass/fail test, simply a friendly eye health check. Third, your grandma has definitely seen things, but if you have any eye-related questions it’s best to ask your optometrist.
4. What do you do outside of optometry?
I’m on a mission to renovate my house and stop my garden from becoming Jumanji. I also enjoy film photography and petting all the dogs I encounter.
5. How do you feel about pineapple on pizza?
I’m rather conservative when it comes to carbohydrates. Authentic Italian pizza doesn’t have pineapple on it. That said, if you like it, go for it!
